Test emails should generally arrive within a minute. If your test hasn't been received, it could be because of a word or words in the subject line that have a high likelihood of being identified as spam.
Some words only cause issues when combined with the addition of 'Test Mailing:' which prefixed to distinguish between tests and genuine emails. Changing the subject line temporarily will allow you to send tests, reverting for the scheduled send.
A development will soon be available to allow users to define the subject prefix used for test emails.
